The open stroke position is one of the most important leg movements for the groundstrokes. In the world-class, 80% of forehands are played from the open position. Especially on the women’s tour, the open hitting position on the backhand is widespread. The open stance is particularly suitable for strokes that are played out to the side. The advantages are reach, a quicker path to the bisecting line and, above all, a point of impact that can be further in front of the body. In this video, I show you a few drills on how you can work on the open punch position. All drills are performed with the coach feeding.
