The return is often the shot that determines who takes control of the point in doubles. This exercise combines reaction speed, return technique and doubles play in a highly game-realistic environment.

Four players compete in doubles. Two players start at the T-line and serve into the singles court at any speed. The returners begin on the baseline and aim to recognize the serve early, play a controlled return and then continue the point as a regular doubles rally.

After every seven serves, the teams switch roles. Play continues until 21 points have been scored.

In the second variation, the roles are reversed. The servers now serve from the baseline toward players positioned at the T-line. After the return, the point is played out normally. The reduced distance creates extremely fast reaction situations, placing a strong emphasis on split-step timing, compact swings and quick decision-making.
