In this relay competition, several children compete against each other in teams. Each player starts one after another from the baseline, first completing a short coordination or technical task—such as side shuffles, backpedaling, or dribbling the ball—before sprinting toward the net. At the net, the player attempts to knock down a pyramid made of cones or cans with a controlled throw or stroke. After the attempt, the player quickly runs back and tags the next teammate. The winning team is the one that either completes all rounds first or knocks down the most targets within a set time limit.
The drill can easily be adapted to different age groups by varying the movement tasks, stroke selections, or target challenges. The relay format creates excitement, motivation, and strong team spirit. At the same time, players develop coordination, accuracy, and group communication in a fun and engaging way. Ideal for kids’ training sessions and larger groups.
