The drop shot is one of the most effective tactical shots in tennis – but only when players develop the right touch and technique. In this first part of a two-part training series, the focus is on building the technical foundation of the drop shot. Players start by developing feel for the ball, racket control and proper rhythm. Through a series of progressive exercises, they learn the correct drop shot motion step by step.
The key focus is on a soft, controlled swing, refined touch and the ability to place the ball short behind the net with precision. Players work on timing, ball control and the delicate balance required to execute an effective drop shot. The drills start with simple exercises and gradually become more challenging, allowing players to build the technique confidently and consistently.
In part two of this series, the focus shifts to structured skill acquisition drills and tactical application exercises that help players integrate the drop shot into match play.
